The Can Am Defender is the Can-Am UTV designed for work and play. It's tough, ready for varying terrains and tasks, and comes with features that will make both utility and recreational use easier and more pleasurable.
Rotax V-Twin Engine
Similar to the engines in the Can-Am Mavericks, but tuned for more torque at lower RPMs. The Defender engine is mounted in the rear, and works well with the new PRO-TORQ transmission. Having the engine in the rear means a cooler cockpit, less noise, easier access and less vibration.
Another excellent feature is the Hill Descent Control that really shows its worth on steep hills. Built into Low Range, it helps keep your foot off the brake during descents.
High Rigidity Chassis
The fully welded frame adds solidity to the vehicle. An integrated from bumper and central skid plate add strength, and the chassis is build from high-strength, low-alloy grade steel.
Redesigned to handle heavier loads, the rear suspension handles big loads well, even with two passengers. And it can tow up to 2,000 lbs.
Traction and Maneuverability
The true 4-mode traction system and front auto-locking Visco Lok provides choices to accommodate nearly every task or terrain. With just the flick of a toggle switch, choose the 2x4 open rear differential to make tight turns and provide turf protection. Another toggle choice lets you use the 2x4 lockable rear for improved 2W traction. You can also engage the 4x4 open rear to make maneuvering in rugged terrain easier, or pick 4x4 lock rear for maximum traction.
